Yes, you need base games to get DLC.ĮDIT: Some of the commenters are reporting you CAN add certain DLC even if you don’t own the base game. To get free DLC for Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age II, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, players must have these games in their Origin library. Mass Effect 3 (except Multiplayer Packs).The following titles on Origin have free DLC you can get if you own base game: In a move that surprised everybody, EA decided to be nice and just give away all single-player DLC for multiple Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. This offer has been live since July when Bioware finally removed the awful Bioware points as the only way to buy incredibly expensive pieces of DLC.
